I prefer it if the heroes I read about are not bigoted and stupid. I don't know why the author thought their main character needed to jump—without evidence—to the conclusion that the crash victim must be a vicious drug dealer. I can think of several reasons for a woman to be carrying cash, and carrying a pistol for self protection is as American as it is common. But if the dumb kid really thought the crash victim was a drug dealer, why didn't he call the sheriff? So as a tension building storytelling device it doesn't work very well. The 'vicious drug dealer' also is kind of a hackneyed cliché. And In Real Life, where the real drug problem is overprescription of opiates like oxycontin, the 'vicious drug dealer' is Walmart.

I took OxyContin for pain, it worked but I didn’t like it made me feel. I now take oxycodone so I can control the dose. The drug saved my life and I’m able to function. Please don’t take these drugs for recreation, they can kill you.
