Any one having a reasonably close relationship with a person that has had severe mental problems would laugh at your depiction of Nancy at the story's ending. After years of antidepressant and antipsychotic medication no person is mentally stable as a result of the massive side effects. If the illness is severe enough to require hospitalization a number of times, full recovery is all but impossible.
