HomeQ & AQuestionsNaproxen and ibuprofen on the... Question posted by CBKisling on 24 Aug 2021 Last updated on 24 August 2021 by Lcsjc19 How long after taking naproxen is it safe to take ibuprofen? Ok, so you CAN take them on the same day BUT you should wait approximately 8 hours between the two. Using ibuprofen together with naproxen is NOT recommended. Combining these medications may increase the risk of side effects in the gastrointestinal tract such as inflammation, bleeding, ulceration, and rarely, perforation. HOWEVER, if you’re in a fair amount of pain, and I assume you are or you wouldn’t be asking, what you CAN do is combine any ONE of the following three: aspirin, Naproxen, OR Ibuprofen with Acetaminophen (Tylenol) (paracetamol if you’re overseas around England and such). People who are able to take NSAIDs should always ensure that they’re taking a safe amount. Most adults can take up to 1,200 mg of ibuprofen every 24 hours and up to 600 mg of Naproxen (Aleve) every 24 hours. Please remember, you should never combine these drugs together or with aspirin but they are safe to combine with Acetaminophen.
